With 346 hectares, Lake Ptuj is the largest artificial lake in Slovenia on the Drava near Ptuj. It was created by damming the Drava river near Ptuj (1978). It serves as a reservoir for the Formin hydroelectric power plant, as well as a recreational area for rowing, sailing and surfing, as well as fishing. The lake is 7.3 km long in the widest part, 1.2 km wide and the depth of the lake is 12 m. The volume of the lake is 20 million m³.
